A Reference Point for Sustainable Banking
As well as deliver the benefits of sustainable banking directly through its finance, Triodos Bank promotes the notion that money can be used consciously through the banking system as a positive force for good, directly contributing to its strategic goal to act as a reference point for banking.
During the year the Belgian branch passed an important milestone and used the opportunity to support its position as a reference point. The branch celebrated its 20 year anniversary by hosting ecological economist Tim Jackson as a special guest at a Client Day.
In Germany co-hosted and sponsored two key sustainability events, for personal and business audiences, supporting Frankfurt’s efforts to win the biennial title of ‘Fair Trade Capital of Germany’.
Triodos Bank also promotes and influences wider debate about issues that are close to it through numerous events and online and in-person discussions during the year. In The Netherlands the branch’s ‘Heart-Head award’ has become an important part of the sustainable sector’s agenda. The award is combined with Heart-Head days across the country enabling personal customers to meet with the enterprises their savings help to finance, at the location of the businesses themselves.
Triodos Bank lobbied for positive developments in the banking sector throughout the year.
This included responding collectively, and as part of the Global Alliance for Banking on Values’ European Chapter, to an EU paper on long-term finance.
The Spanish branch delivered strong brand awareness and impact in the media in 2013, and took part in around 145 public events and fairs.
